I created a Coraline holiday painting for LAIKA​ 's contest! This was painted in a Mary Blair​ gouache style!

But the town won't survive, as because of my drive, all of those girls were undead.  And that's a wrap! Thank you all so much for following my Inktober story this year. I hope you enjoyed it! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I ran out into the night, leaving behind such a fright, knowing it was best if I fled. 

I attacked and I bit, drinking in a fit, finally full as they bled. 

But I was much faster, a bloodthirsty master, and getting them all was the plan. 

I sank my teeth in her neck, the party a wreck, girls screamed and cried and ran. 

But all it took was a touch for it to become too much, and I grabbed the girl near me by her hair. 

I finally came back, still a bit out of whack, just in time to play Truth or Dare.

I had not eaten in days, hoping to pass this phase, and I could taste their blood though their skin. 

The smell was so strong, but I had to get along, and resist the urges within.

But then Susie got a cut, and my eyes shut, and I went and hid behind the bookshelf. 

At first we played games, I learned everyone's names, and was feeling quite like myself. 

I went through the door, put my stuff on the floor, excited to see what was planned. 

Just past 6 o'clock, I walked up the block, sleeping bag in my hand. 

Finally it was time, and I thought I'd be fine, but in the back of my mind I felt fear. 

But soon I was distracted, those dark thoughts redacted, as the slumber party drew ever near. 

I tried to resist, but the need would just persist, and my friends had a new kind of stench.

I no longer wanted food, I just was not in the mood, but instead I had a thirst I couldn't quench. 

My fangs came in, my eyes had purple skin, and I began to look gaunt and frail. 

But something was wrong, and I'd never belong, as the days went I grew very pale. 

...meant that I was cool, and for once not a fool, and I just couldn't wait 'til it was here. 

She had invited me, and anyone would agree, that going to the slumber party of the year... 

But soon I didn't care, as with a flick of her hair, she handed me one as she passed. 

Jen went around school, in a way somewhat cruel, as she walked by many in our class.

I forgot my plight, and that scary night, with the hope that one would be for me. 

But then, my friend Jen, began handing out the invitations to her party soon to be. 

I tried to be nice, but my blood felt like ice, and it was hard to ignore the change.

The very next day, under a sky now gray, I went to school feeling quite strange.

I ran all the way home, feeling chilled to the bone, not knowing where it went in its flight. 

It had eyes that looked dead and it flew past my head, as I cowered away in fright.

Just in case today wasn't terrible enough, Tom Petty went into cardiac arrest and it is unclear what his condition is. He was a hero of mine, one of the musicians I listened to that made me feel less alone. I learned so many of his songs when I was first playing guitar. I was actually supposed to see him play two weeks ago. I can't believe I missed out on that.

I am absolutely heartbroken over the shooting in Las Vegas today. They don't let me donate blood due to my heart problems but if you can, please do today! They can drive it out to Vegas, just go to your local Red Cross. 💔 I created this illustration, which you are welcome to share and use. I went to say hi, but it made me cry, as it bit me very hard through my glove. 

It was a dark stormy night, in the early moonlight, when I first saw the creature fly above.

I am a huge fan of Inktober ( http://inktober.com/ ). If you don't know what it is, it is a drawing challenge for the month of October created by the incredibly talented artist Jake Parker . Please join me in doing Inktober this year! It is a great way to motivate yourself to improve your inking skills and it's so fun because it connects you to so many other artists who also participate! Ink is also my **favorite** medium to work in. If you need inspiration, Jake also creates an official Inktober prompt list: But you can create whatever you'd like as long as it's ink and every day for the month. This year I'm writing a short story and illustrating one line every day.  Can't wait to see what you guys come up with! Tag your art with #hollydoesart so I get to see it!
